OTIARAE · MUSSOMELI, SICILY
A creative retreat
in the heart of Sicily.
01 / THE HOUSE
An old Sicilian house.
A new chapter.
A home for art, ideas, and the pleasure of being somewhere else.
In Mussomeli, one traditional house is being restored as a private residence and an intimate setting for creative life. Its rooms will bring together the pleasures of making, reading, cooking, and gathering around a table.
The project begins with the house itself: its history, its domestic scale, and its place within a living Sicilian town.

02 / THE PLACE
In the heart
of the island.
Beyond the coast, Sicily opens into agricultural landscapes, stone lanes, and hilltop towns. Mussomeli is our starting point: a place to explore on foot, watch the light change, and become familiar with the rituals of everyday life.
The wider island invites longer excursions, from ancient temples to coastal cities. Here, the pleasure is also in returning to somewhere that begins to feel like home.

A place in the making.
Restoration is ongoing. Private, invitation-only stays are envisioned for 2027, with a wider opening planned for 2028. These dates remain provisional as the house takes shape.

Life in Mussomeli.
Nestled in the heart of Sicily, Mussomeli is a hilltop town in the province of Caltanissetta, where winding cobblestone streets, centuries-old architecture, and sweeping countryside views offer a glimpse into a slower, more intimate way of life.
Overlooked by its dramatic medieval castle, the town is steeped in history, tradition, and an enduring sense of community.
Far from the island’s more traveled destinations, Mussomeli invites visitors to discover an authentic Sicily, one shaped by simple pleasures, timeless beauty, and the art of living well.
